Production technology of Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide

The Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide is a new ceramic material with high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, high strength, extreme cold resistance, good thermal shock resistance, low temperature, good thermal conductivity, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. It will involve a variety of manufacturing techniques, such as rough refining technology, precision drilling technology, welding technology, and surface grinding technology.

 

The planar grinding technology replaces the rough forging blank with precision forged blanks, saving raw material costs and saving processing costs. The original mechanical drilling has been changed to computer-controlled laser drilling and electrolytic drilling, with a minimum of 0.1 mm holes.

 

Conventional welding is mainly based on electric resistance welding and argon arc welding. Now progress is made to use high temperature vacuum brazing and high energy density electron beam welding. A single-plate flat grinder can produce a smoother, finer product with a parallelism of 0.0003mm.

 

Due to the high hardness, high corrosion resistance and high high temperature strength of SiC ceramics, SiC ceramics have been widely used. The more common reaction-sintered silicon carbide products are silicon carbide sealing rings and silicon carbide grinding barrels.
